Many websites have products, services or information that is shared or sold to others from their web site.  These goods are frequently the main-stay of the revenue generated from the site.  Your site, however, may additionally use some of its space to generate alternate streams of revenue.

On the following pages we explore various strategies and methods of making addtional money.  It is important to know that there are no easy ways to "instant riches".  To use ones website well and profitably takes some research, planning and hard work.  Throwing up links in the hope that one will generate sales is for the most part a waste of time.  How many banners do you click on?  Of those that you do, how often do you make a purchase?  Enough said!

When you click on an image, a banner or text link it is  because there is important information that you seek and you are far more likely to make a purchase.  Why? because it is something you are seeking, and if it fits the bill and is priced right you are far more interested.

So, if your are a web-related site such as ours, why waste your time trying to promote flowers or candles.  You didn't really come here for that, did you?  Oh, I might get the occational visitor to make a purchase but is it really worth my time or effort?
If I find a web host, major marketer or optimization service for example that is really worthwhile, that I believe in and can highly recommend, it is far more likely that some of my vistors will be looking for those services and be interested.

Basic concepts:

1.  If you are a new site and don't have a high volume of traffic, pay-per-click offers are rarely worthwhile - wait until you have the traffic.

2.  Same holds true of low paying and single tiered affiliate programs.  A 3% commision from say CompUSA is wasting your time.
Look for at least 25-60% with 2 or more tiers.

3.  Email and subscription are difficult at the beginning as well, because your list are generally small.
