Most of the experts will tell you that unless you get good "targeted" traffic to your site you will never sell anything. So, does that mean that there is good traffic and useless traffic?
Targeted traffic usually implies that the person coming to your site is already interested in the type of products or services your site provides. And statistic do show that these visitor are more likely to make a purchase. But, what about the others that visit who don't buy, is this useless traffic? Well, not exactly. You see, the more hits your site receives, the more well know you become, the better your Alexa Ranking will be and eventually your rank will improve with search engines. (ie: google page rank)
You may ask, does this increase in traffic have a significant effect on my google page ranking? Directly, probably not, but in the long-term scheme of things yes! Ask yourself this question. Would you rather trade links with a site that gets thousands of clicks a day with an Alexa Rating of 25,000 or one that is listed at 4,300,000 and has virtually no traffic? The answer becomes quite obvious. As your site traffic grow, so will your link exchange popularity. The better sites will seek you out and that will help your google page rank.
